Below you will find images from the latest 99% actions in Arizona October, 2011.
"We The People" gather at a park on Central near the light rail terminal on October 14. People driving by blow their horns and give us a thumbs up or clenched (power) fist and others on the rail cars wave. Marcos lays out the general plan (which included marching to Chase, Wells Fargo, and Bank of America).
No "business as usual" October 14, 2011 at BofA Phoenix.
The 99% arrived to demand their money back.
Response: The bank shut down for the day. Power to the people, oh yeah.
This is the stage at Cesar Chavez Park. Lenny and an unknown protestor cheer and look on while the Haymarket Squares sing "We don't live in a De-mocracy, it's an oligarchy at best..."
There were about 400 people post-march in Phoenix on Friday October 14th, 2011 (this is only a section of the park, they wouldn't all fit).
In an incredible coincidence, dozens of Syrian Demonstrators were protesting at the other end of the park calling for Assad to resign. They were invited to join us and they did. Here Liz from Code Pink shares some time with a group of Syrian Woman and expresses our solidarity with their cause.
Another shot in front of the Bank of America, just before they closed. We wanted them to know how pleased we were with their stock performance, especially since the bailout. Among other suggestions, "Mr. Friendly" was encouraged to find a more respectable line of work.
Different day, different time. This is the 99% General Assembly gathering in Tempe. This occurred on October 8 in Pancho Villa Park. While I love my brothers and sisters, I felt a little too much time was spent on 'bike paths and dog parks'. My view is 'get the money out of politics and all good things will flow from that'. --- Peace.
This is a small slice of "Occupy Tempe" on October 7, 2011. It was very well received by the people of Tempe. Many joined in the chants of "We are the 99%, You are the 99%" Even passing police officers and motorists were bobbing their heads and pointing at us and themselves as appropriate.
